Applied Academy · European Institute for Applied Biodata Science

Do not stockpile data. Lead
the science behind it.

Executive training in biostatistics, causal inference and reproducible science. Built on the scientific team's experience in active European projects. No theory made to measure. No invented case studies.

Let's be honest

How many times have you waited for someone else to analyse your own data?

You have the case. You have the hypothesis. You have the data. And your project has been stalled for months waiting on the biostatistics unit, on an external statistician who does not understand your context, or on the colleague who "knows a bit of R".

Meanwhile, your career does not wait: papers go unpublished, posts are decided and department headships are handed out.

This is not a problem of ability. It is a problem of training. And it can be solved.

Before

—You depend on the statistics unit

—You dread Reviewer 2

—Your projects get stuck at the analysis stage

—Your CV competes with ten others just like it

After

—You lead your own studies

—You reach review with watertight methodology

—You go from data to decision with no intermediaries

—You have a scientific profile that sets you apart

The Applied Academy

The training comes out of the research — not the other way round.

The Applied Academy is not one more master's in biostatistics. It is the methodology of an active research institute, set down so that you can master it in weeks, not years.

Every module is built on the team's real experience in European projects: what works, what fails, what reviewers demand, how methodological deadlocks are resolved in live scientific work.

Real cases, not textbook cases

The training is built on the methodological problems the team solves every day in its active European projects. The datasets are analogous, synthetic or public — confidentiality is preserved. What you take away is our judgement for analysing them.

R and Python from day one

Not as generic programming courses. As the tools you will use tomorrow on your own project, embedded in the real workflow of a life sciences researcher.

Publishable standard in everything you do

Every deliverable in the programme is built with the STROBE, CONSORT or PRISMA guidelines in hand. You do not learn to analyse: you learn to leave the analysis ready for journal submission.

You keep everything

Code, pipelines, templates, materials and methods are yours. No closed platforms. No expiring licences. Sovereignty over your data starts with sovereignty over your tools.

Scientific Direction

Under the scientific direction of Dr Marta María Dolcet Negre — researcher and lecturer at the University of Salamanca (USAL), member of IBSAL, co-author in Nature Microbiology (2025) and expert reviewer for RIICS — every module of the programme is a direct extract from the active research work of the European Institute for Applied Biodata Science.

Admissions

The process is selective. And that is deliberate.

We are not after the largest number of students; we are after the right profile. Every cohort is built so that the level of the group pushes everyone upwards.

01

Application

Professional profile form and covering letter.

02

Interview

A conversation with the Institute's academic team.

03

Acceptance

Notification and reservation of your place in the cohort.

04

Enrolment

Access to the platform and pre-course materials.
