Applied Academy · European Institute for Applied Biodata Science
Executive training in biostatistics, causal inference and reproducible science. Built on the scientific team's experience in active European projects. No theory made to measure. No invented case studies.
Let's be honest
You have the case. You have the hypothesis. You have the data. And your project has been stalled for months waiting on the biostatistics unit, on an external statistician who does not understand your context, or on the colleague who "knows a bit of R".
Meanwhile, your career does not wait: papers go unpublished, posts are decided and department headships are handed out.
This is not a problem of ability. It is a problem of training. And it can be solved.
Before
—You depend on the statistics unit
—You dread Reviewer 2
—Your projects get stuck at the analysis stage
—Your CV competes with ten others just like it
After
—You lead your own studies
—You reach review with watertight methodology
—You go from data to decision with no intermediaries
—You have a scientific profile that sets you apart
The Applied Academy
The Applied Academy is not one more master's in biostatistics. It is the methodology of an active research institute, set down so that you can master it in weeks, not years.
Every module is built on the team's real experience in European projects: what works, what fails, what reviewers demand, how methodological deadlocks are resolved in live scientific work.
Real cases, not textbook cases
The training is built on the methodological problems the team solves every day in its active European projects. The datasets are analogous, synthetic or public — confidentiality is preserved. What you take away is our judgement for analysing them.
R and Python from day one
Not as generic programming courses. As the tools you will use tomorrow on your own project, embedded in the real workflow of a life sciences researcher.
Publishable standard in everything you do
Every deliverable in the programme is built with the STROBE, CONSORT or PRISMA guidelines in hand. You do not learn to analyse: you learn to leave the analysis ready for journal submission.
You keep everything
Code, pipelines, templates, materials and methods are yours. No closed platforms. No expiring licences. Sovereignty over your data starts with sovereignty over your tools.
Scientific Direction
Under the scientific direction of Dr Marta María Dolcet Negre — researcher and lecturer at the University of Salamanca (USAL), member of IBSAL, co-author in Nature Microbiology (2025) and expert reviewer for RIICS — every module of the programme is a direct extract from the active research work of the European Institute for Applied Biodata Science.
Your profile
Every health professional starts from a different point. The Applied Academy of the European Institute for Applied Biodata Science has designed specific pathways so that your training is relevant from day one.
Profile 01
Leadership in hospital research
"How many projects have you held back because you did not have the analysis in hand?"
Lead your own clinical studies without depending on the biostatistics unit. Speed up publications and strengthen your profile for departmental headships.
Applications in your field

Profile 02
One Health
"Are you working with animal production data without getting everything out of it?"
Optimise your data analysis and scale up from the individual practice to population-level consultancy, with internationally recognised scientific rigour.
Applications in your field

Profile 03
Computational epidemiology
"Do your surveillance models meet WHO/EU standards?"
Immediate response capability in epidemiological surveillance. Positioning to lead international consortia and win funding.
Applications in your field

Profile 04
Pharmacoepidemiology
"Could you defend your data in an EMA audit?"
Cut the risk of rejection in external audits. Rigorous data design from the preclinical phase saves millions in repeated trials.
Applications in your field

Profile 05
Reproducible science
"Do your analyses survive Reviewer 2's scrutiny?"
Remove the bottleneck in your thesis. Reproducible analyses that clear peer review at Q1 journals first time.
Applications in your field

Profile 06
Data integrity
"Do you stand out from the generic programmers in your sector?"
Set your profile apart by implementing European data integrity protocols. Become the most valuable asset for bioproduct companies.
Applications in your field

Profile 07
Strategy and data
"Are your management decisions backed by real evidence?"
Make decisions based on data. Manage healthcare budgets with predictive analytics, cutting costs and improving quality of care.
Applications in your field

Profile 08
Translational medicine
"Is the gap between basic and clinical research holding back your impact?"
Close that gap. Turn molecular findings into disease prediction models for precision medicine.
Applications in your field

Profile 09
Complex systems
"Are you still describing when you could be predicting?"
Move from descriptive observation to predictive modelling. Master biological networks and omics data to lead environmental biotechnology projects.

Admissions
We are not after the largest number of students; we are after the right profile. Every cohort is built so that the level of the group pushes everyone upwards.
01
Application
Professional profile form and covering letter.
02
Interview
A conversation with the Institute's academic team.
03
Acceptance
Notification and reservation of your place in the cohort.
04
Enrolment
Access to the platform and pre-course materials.
The next intake has limited places. Start with a conversation — it takes 20 minutes and commits you to nothing.
